How to Use the Scientific Calculator

Enter a number using the digit buttons. For trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), enter the angle in degrees, then press the function button. For logarithms, enter the number then press log (base 10) or ln (natural log). For powers, enter the base, press xʸ, then enter the exponent and press =. Use π and e buttons to insert the constants 3.14159… and 2.71828…. The |x| button returns the absolute value of the current number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sin (sine), cos (cosine) and tan (tangent) are trigonometric functions that relate the angles of a right triangle to the ratios of its sides. Sin = opposite/hypotenuse, cos = adjacent/hypotenuse, tan = opposite/adjacent. This calculator uses degrees, not radians.
log is the common logarithm (base 10): log(100) = 2 because 10² = 100. ln is the natural logarithm (base e ≈ 2.718): ln(e) = 1. Use log for pH calculations and decibels; use ln for exponential growth and calculus.
Enter 2, press xʸ, enter 8, then press =. The result is 256. You can also use x² for squaring and x³ for cubing directly.
The 1/x button calculates the reciprocal of the current number. For example, 1/x on 4 gives 0.25 (since 1÷4 = 0.25). It is useful for converting between rates: if a task takes 8 hours, its rate is 1/8 = 0.125 tasks per hour.
